Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts to host summer day camps for children

The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts is hosting a series of day camps for children throughout the summer. Themes of the camps range from music and theater to fine arts and cooking, so there is something for every child at the arts center this summer, regardless of their interests.

All the below camps will take place at the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts at 2736 State Highway 30. All campers should bring their own water bottle each day. Rock & Roll Kid Camp will take place July 5-7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is open to children ages 5-15. The cost is $130 for those who pre-register or $150 for walk-ins. Campers will have VIP access to three days of fun-filled music education with professional musicians. Instruction will range from songwriting to how to rock out in front of a live audience. On the last day of camp, campers will perform a rock and roll song live for friends and family. Campers should bring their own lunch and snack each day. Refrigeration is available.

Kid’s Cooking Camp will take place July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is open to children ages 8-12. The cost is $155 for those who pre-register or $175 for walk-ins. Campers will cook their own lunches every day. This is a creative culinary experience, with recipes ranging from pizza to pasta to barbecue. Campers will also take breaks from the kitchen to create art projects.

Audition Ambition Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place July 18-20 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to children 9 and up. The cost is $135 for those who pre-register or $145 for walk-ins. Whether campers are seasoned performers or just starting out, this camp will give them the tools they need to put their best face forward and land a dream role. Actors will learn an audition song, two monologues and how to perform a cold reading. The camp will end with mock auditions as campers perform in front of a panel and their families. Campers should bring a snack each day.

Summer Music Celebration Camp will take place July 18-22 from 1-5 p.m. This is a weeklong workshop and educational/performance program for musicians of all ages and abilities. It will be directed by Kyle Barrett Price and faculty from the Caroga Lake Music Festival (CLMF). Throughout the week, camp-goers will play with fellow participants and experience a unique music-making experience in small and large groups organized to each camp-goers age and ability level. The camp will include lessons, classes and close tutoring with the world-renowned faculty musicians of CLMF. The week will conclude with a final celebration concert featuring the small and large groups along with a collaboration between camp-goers and CLMF musicians.

Fantastical Fairy Tales Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place July 25-29 from 9-10 a.m. It is open to children ages 4-7. The cost is $66 for those who pre-register or $76 for walk-ins. Princes and princesses are the stars of this camp, where children use movement, music, mime and theater games to transform into beloved characters. Campers will exercise self-expression, develop theater skills and have a true creative royal experience!

Pirates on Parade Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place July 25-29 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. It is open to children ages 8-11. The cost is $95 for those who pre-register or $105 for walk-ins. This pirate-themed camp will teach students to expand their imaginations and creativity to make infamous pirates come alive. They will learn improvisation, theater games and acting techniques.

Art Camp: Intro to Art – Foundations of Drawing Lines and Watercolor, featuring instructor Sarah Goodbread, will take place July 25-29 from 1-3 p.m. It is open to children 7-15. The cost is $100 for those who pre-register or $130 for walk-ins. Campers will spend this week working on a beautiful piece of art. They will experiment with different ways to use lines in art, create observational drawings, and learn watercolor techniques.

Art Explosion Camp will take place August 1-4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is open to children ages 5-10. The cost is $155 for those who pre-register or $175 for walk-ins. This fun, hands-on camp will feature loads of art projects and creative activities such as Fabulous Food Art, wacky and colorful culinary treats you can eat! Young artists will also learn about artistic expression through dance, music and yoga. Campers should bring their own lunch and snack each day. Refrigeration is available. 

Rising Star Variety Showcase Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place August 1-5 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to children ages 8 and up. The cost is $140 for those who pre-register or $150 for walk-ins. During this week, campers will learn and develop songs, comedy acts, improvisation sketches and dance routines. On the last day of camp, they will perform a variety show in front of family and friends. Campers should bring a snack each day.

Summer Stage Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place August 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is open to children ages 6 and up. The cost is $190 for those who pre-register or $210 for walk-ins. This camp will take children from auditions to performance in one week! Campers will be broken into groups to work with instructors and discover the many elements that go into putting on a show. This hands-on experience will involve campers in each step of the creative journey as they work on everything from acting and music to costumes, props and set pieces. At the end of the week, campers will perform for their families and friends. Campers should bring their own lunch and snack each day. Refrigeration is available.

Musical Moppets Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place August 15-19 from 9-10 a.m. It is open to children ages 4-7. The cost is $70 for those who pre-register or $80 for walk-ins. This camp is a perfect introduction to the wonderful world of musical theater for little ones. It will incorporate music, rhythm, rhymes and movement as campers learn about theater through skits and musical plays inspired by and based on fairy tales and folklore.

Adirondack Adventure Camp will take place August 16-18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is open to children ages 5-15. The cost is $120 for those who pre-register or $140 for walk-ins. For this camp, children should prepare to head outside and embrace nature in all of her glory. Activities will range from scavenger hunts to art projects with an outdoor theme. Campers will also create their own terrariums with plants they discover outdoors. Campers should bring their own lunch and snack each day.

Living Storybook Camp will take place August 23-25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is open to children ages 5-10. The cost is $90 for those who pre-register or $100 for walk-ins. In this camp, children will work with counselors to write a fantastical tale, paying special attention to setting, costumes and characters. By the end of camp, they will become the storybook in a fun video they can share with parents. Campers should bring their own lunch and snack each day. Refrigeration is available.
