Summer Kid Camps Offered at Nigra Arts Center

The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts is hosting a series of day camps for children this summer. Camp themes range from music and theater to cooking and outdoor adventure. Each camp also includes plenty of arts, crafts and fun activities for kids of all ages. Extended hours are being offered at several of the camps, which will take place at the center, located at 2736 State Highway 30 in Gloversville.  Members of the center receive a discount. Rock & Roll Kid Camp – Session One

Popular music instructor Tom Simek is back with this super fun camp! Children will enjoy three days of music education as they learn about songwriting and how to create a music video. On the last day of camp, they will perform for friends and family.

Kid Cooking Camp

This is the camp where kids cook up a storm and then gobble it all up! Campers will work alongside our chef instructors to make three gourmet lunches in our professional teaching kitchen. Kids will also make fun food-related art projects to take home.

Rock & Roll Kid Camp – Session Two

Tim Simek is back with more music and tons of fun! Campers will learn about songwriting and working together to make rockin’ music. On the last day of camp, family and friends will be treated to a live performance.

Caroga Lake Music Festival (CLMF) Camp

This is an educational/performance program for musicians of all ages and abilities. The program is directed by Kyle Barrett Price and faculty from the Caroga Lake Music Festival (CLMF). Camp-goers will experience a unique music-making experience in small and large groups organized by age and ability level. The camp will include lessons, classes and close tutoring with the world-renowned faculty musicians of CLMF. The camp will conclude with a celebration concert featuring the groups and collaborations between camp-goers and CLMF musicians.

Summer Stage Camp
August 6-10 | 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Instructor Roberta Esposito will take campers from audition to performance in one week! Campers will be broken into groups as they work with instructors to discover the many elements that go into putting on a show. This hands-on experience will involve campers in each step of the creative journey as they work on everything from acting and music to costumes, props and set pieces. At the end of the week, campers will perform for their families, friends and loved ones.

Adirondack Adventure Camp
August 14-16 | 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Our campers always have a blast in the great outdoors during our Adirondack Adventure Camp! Activities will range from scavenger hunts to art projects with an outdoor theme.

Living Storybook Camp
August 21-23 | 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Ages 5-10 | Cost: $95 pre-registration/$115 at door

This storytelling experience puts campers in control of the story! Children will use their imaginations as they work with counselors on characters, story, setting and even costumes. At the end of camp, children will become the storybook in a special video parents will be able to share with the world!

Nigra Arts Center Hosting Children's Camp with Special Guest Miss Fulton County!

The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts will hold its annual Spring Break Escape camp April 3-5 at the center, located at 2736 State Highway 30 in Gloversville. The camp will operate daily from 9:00AM-2:00PM and is intended for children ages 6-12.

The three day camp will feature outside activities (weather permitting), music, dance, cooking and art projects children will bring home. Campers will also have an opportunity to meet 2018 Miss Fulton County Chelsea Cirillo. On April 5, Cirillo will speak with children about the importance of volunteering and work with them on an art project illustrating community spirit.

Winter Funderland Day Camp Returns to Nigra Arts Center

The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts is offering its third annual Winter Funderland Day Camp this winter break for children ages 5 to 10. On December 27, 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., campers will enjoy a wide range of winter crafts and activities at the art center’s facility at 2736 State Highway 30, Gloversville.

This camp, directed by Gretchen Salvione, owner and operator of The Dance Company, is for dancers ages 6 to 13. In addition to learning cool ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip hop moves, children will make props and costumes and perform for loved ones and friends on the last day of camp. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to dancers who have some training but want to spruce up their technique. Campers should bring their own lunch, snack and water bottle each day. Campers will have VIP access to three days of fun-filled music education with professional musicians. Instruction will range from songwriting to how to rock out in front of a live audience. On the last day of camp, campers will perform a rock and roll song live for friends and family. Campers should bring their own lunch and snack each day. Refrigeration is available.

Kid’s Cooking Camp will take place July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is open to children ages 8-12. The cost is $155 for those who pre-register or $175 for walk-ins. Campers will cook their own lunches every day. This is a creative culinary experience, with recipes ranging from pizza to pasta to barbecue. Campers will also take breaks from the kitchen to create art projects.

Audition Ambition Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place July 18-20 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to children 9 and up. The cost is $135 for those who pre-register or $145 for walk-ins. Whether campers are seasoned performers or just starting out, this camp will give them the tools they need to put their best face forward and land a dream role. Actors will learn an audition song, two monologues and how to perform a cold reading. The camp will end with mock auditions as campers perform in front of a panel and their families. Campers should bring a snack each day.

Summer Music Celebration Camp will take place July 18-22 from 1-5 p.m. This is a weeklong workshop and educational/performance program for musicians of all ages and abilities. It will be directed by Kyle Barrett Price and faculty from the Caroga Lake Music Festival (CLMF). Throughout the week, camp-goers will play with fellow participants and experience a unique music-making experience in small and large groups organized to each camp-goers age and ability level. The camp will include lessons, classes and close tutoring with the world-renowned faculty musicians of CLMF. The week will conclude with a final celebration concert featuring the small and large groups along with a collaboration between camp-goers and CLMF musicians.

Fantastical Fairy Tales Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place July 25-29 from 9-10 a.m. It is open to children ages 4-7. The cost is $66 for those who pre-register or $76 for walk-ins. Princes and princesses are the stars of this camp, where children use movement, music, mime and theater games to transform into beloved characters. Campers will exercise self-expression, develop theater skills and have a true creative royal experience!

Pirates on Parade Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place July 25-29 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. It is open to children ages 8-11. The cost is $95 for those who pre-register or $105 for walk-ins. This pirate-themed camp will teach students to expand their imaginations and creativity to make infamous pirates come alive. They will learn improvisation, theater games and acting techniques.

Art Camp: Intro to Art – Foundations of Drawing Lines and Watercolor, featuring instructor Sarah Goodbread, will take place July 25-29 from 1-3 p.m. It is open to children 7-15. The cost is $100 for those who pre-register or $130 for walk-ins. Campers will spend this week working on a beautiful piece of art. They will experiment with different ways to use lines in art, create observational drawings, and learn watercolor techniques.

Art Explosion Camp will take place August 1-4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is open to children ages 5-10. The cost is $155 for those who pre-register or $175 for walk-ins. This fun, hands-on camp will feature loads of art projects and creative activities such as Fabulous Food Art, wacky and colorful culinary treats you can eat! Young artists will also learn about artistic expression through dance, music and yoga. Campers should bring their own lunch and snack each day. Refrigeration is available. 

Rising Star Variety Showcase Camp, featuring instructor Roberta Esposito, will take place August 1-5 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to children ages 8 and up. The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts Announces Winter “Funderland” Day Camp

The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts is offering a day camp this winter break for children ages 5 to 10. On December 28, 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., campers will enjoy a wide range of winter crafts and activities at the art center’s facility at 2736 State Highway 30, Gloversville.

The theme of Monday, December 28, is Beach Party. Campers should bring their beach towels and dress for the warmth as the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts turns up the heat. The day will include s’mores, a dance-off and creating special sand sculptures to take home.

The theme of Tuesday, December 29, is Outdoor Adventure. Weather conditions permitting, campers will participate in outdoor activities such as building snowmen and snow painting. Inside, campers will warm up with hot chocolate and paint their own winter pictures to take home.

The theme of the last day of camp, December 30, is Imagination Celebration. The campers will use their imaginations, abilities and interests – including dancing, singing, acting, and creating costumes and props – to put on a mini production in one day.

The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts Announces Summer Theater Camps for Children and Teens

This summer, the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts will present a collection of theater camps open to all children in the community. There will be seven weeklong camps in July and August, all taught by local actress, director, singer and drama teacher Roberta Esposito. There are two camps for children aged 4 to 7, two for 8- to 11-year-olds and three for theater fans ages 11 and up. Children of all experience and skill levels are welcome.

The youngest group can explore princes, princesses and royal kingdoms in the Royal Treasure Box camp or musical theater based on folklore and fairy tales in Broadway Babies. For the 8 to 11 age group, campers can put on an L. Frank Baum inspired production in Wizard of Oz Meets Wicked, or they can explore ways of interpreting musical theater characters in Disney Musical Express. The oldest age group has longer, more in-depth options. Audition Boot Camp is a comprehensive course aimed to prepare students for formal auditions. The Villains and Villainesses camp will build confidence as well as character acting skills in learning to play evil characters. Finally, Life Is a Cabaret will teach students how to put on the many-featured performance of a cabaret.
